Mindfulness Based Cognitive Therapy (MBCT)

Mindfulness Based Cognitive Therapy (MBCT) is a meditation-based psychological intervention designed to help reduce the risk of relapse in psychological disorders. It is clear that psychiatric and physical conditions can be chronic and relapsing problems. The risk of relapse and recurrence in those who have been depressed before is very high, and the amount of triggering required for each subsequent episode becomes lower each time depression recurs. This illustrates the need for treatments to keep people well once recovered from a major depressive episode.

To allow clients suffering form chronic psychiatric and medical conditions to access an evidence-based program that is designed to prevent distressing and costly psychiatric relapse; by helping patients to better manage their mood, attain better control of their reactions to stressful events, and to live with psychological and medical issues more effectively.
