 Referrals  A written referral from your General practitioner to a Mayo Mental Healthcare services accredited psychiatrist is necessary for treatment, both inpatient and outpatient services. For inpatient/hospital admission, referring doctors should contact the Manager Mr. Paul Cox. For outpatient psychiatrist and psychologist referrals, contact Mayo Specialists Consulting Rooms. For outpatient counselling and group therapy referrals, contact Manager Mr. Paul Cox. Payment Most major private health insurance funds will cover inpatient treatment (including Allied Health) and outpatient treatment and group therapy, depending on level of individual cover. We also have agreements with the Department of Veterans' Affairs and WorkCover approved insurers. Medicare will subsidise a substantial proportion of the costs involved with consulting a psychiatrist as an outpatient. In addition, Medicare and the private health insurance funds will contribute to the expenses of inpatient psychiatrist consultations. Some psychiatrists have no-gap agreements with insurers. |
